Carrie Taylor Johnson
MSc BSc (Hons) PDTD Dip MBPsS ARAD

Hello I’m Carrie, I am a performance psychology lecturer and ex-professional dancer, providing psychological support for elite dancers and athletes; delivering 1-1 and group workshops for individuals, companies, and teams in sport and performance arts.

During a decade long career as a dancer with some of the UK’s leading ballet and contemporary companies (incl. Birmingham Royal Ballet and New Adventures) I recognised how various and changing environments affected my ability to work well and the impact this had on my performance.  I felt I never fully optimised my potential due to experiences with performance anxiety, perfectionism and fluctuating confidence.

Determined to help others, I gained a first-class honours degree in Psychology and Sports Science and a Masters in Applied Sport Psychology (distinction) from St Mary’s University, Twickenham.

Passionate about using my lived and learned experience to help individuals optimise their performance potential and wellbeing, I make psychological support accessible and specific affecting long-lasting change to all performers.

“Carrie has delivered a range of educational workshops for our talent development programmes, tailoring them to each group.

She creates a safe space for discussion with her interactive and friendly approach, providing the dancers with invaluable tools and knowledge.”
